Announced on October 25, 2025, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, DUMA marks a pivotal moment in the city's artistic evolution. Developed by the Al-Futtaim Group, the project embodies Sheikh Mohammed's vision of Dubai as a beacon for creatives worldwide, fostering a vibrant creative economy through public-private partnerships. He emphasized that "culture and art are the soul of a city," highlighting DUMA's role in reflecting Dubai's humanitarian mission and civilizational spirit. At the heart of DUMA's allure is its visionary design by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, a Pritzker Prize laureate renowned for minimalist structures that harmonize with nature. The structure's curved shell form, resembling a pearl, encloses a circular exhibition hall symbolizing unity and discovery, with a central cylindrical opening that invites natural light to illuminate the interiors like shimmering pearls. Rising five storeys, DUMA will feature adaptable galleries for rotating exhibitions, a library, study rooms, and dedicated spaces for educational programs, art fairs, and panel discussions. Additional amenities include a restaurant, VIP lounge, and event spaces, creating an immersive environment where visitors can engage deeply with global art narratives.​
